Woodrow "Ted"Theodore Salling

     EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts the family of Woodrow “Ted” Theodore Salling announces his passing on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the Opelousas General Hospital at the age 82 with family by his side. Woodrow’s life will be celebrated on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 2:30 pm at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

          Woodrow, known as Ted to all, was born in Lake Charles, LA on September 14, 1940, to the late William James and Vircle Hilton Salling. He was a veteran airman of the United States Air Force, serving from 1958 to 1962. Woodrow was also a founding member of the Lake Charles Kiwanis Club where he served as State Governor of the Kiwanis Club for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee from 1986-1987. He was active in all of the Chambers where he lived and was President of the Chamber of Commerce in Natchitoches. He was also active in his community, participating in Campfire Girls, the Key Club, and coached his sons in baseball.

         Woodrow will be missed dearly by his three children, Sabrina Salling of Opelousas, Bill Salling and wife, Kelly Horn Salling of Humble, TX, Stuart Salling and wife, Stephanie Bourque Salling of Baton Rouge; her six grandchildren, Tyler Lofton, Josie Salling, Mason Salling, Kassie Salling, Katie Salling and Chase Salling; his sister, Shirley McGuire of Longview, TX; and an extended family of relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jerry Goleman Salling; his parents; and his brother, Randy Salling.

       At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 1:00 pm until time of services.
