EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald “Blue” Stelly announces his passing at the Alexandria VA Nursing Home on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the age of 80. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
Donald, known as ‘Blue’ by all who knew him, was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with friends. He also liked to sing, joke around, watch game shows, and ride his bike. Blue could fix anything and would always work on small engines. He was a kind man who was always ready to help anyone in need.
Blue will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially by his three daughters, Donna Jorden and husband, Justin of Gillis, Nancy Stelly and fiancé, David Aldridge of Pineville, and Jackie Brame and husband, Paul of Iowa; brother, James Stelly and wife, Linda of Eunice; sister, Gayle Miller of Eunice; three grandchildren, Kaitlynn Stelly, Raymond Jorden, and Sarah Jorden; and one great grandchild, Kosten Chen; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Agerin and Elia Boulet Stelly.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, February 23rd from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Monday February, 24th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a rosary Sunday evening at 7:00 pm.
