Eunice

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the loss of their loved one, Dr. Ben Miller on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at his home in Eunice at the age of 87 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Celebrant for the Mass will be Father Hampton Davis.  Church doors open at 1pm and a Rosary will be held at 2pm.  Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery. There will be no services at the funeral home.

Ben, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife Kathryn of  fifty three years; five sons, Dal and wife, Leslie and Greg of Lafayette, Brad and wife, Tonya, Peter and wife, Annie of Eunice, Michael and wife, Blair of Bossier City, and three daughters, Sharon Angelle and husband, Mark of Lafayette, Stephanie Trahan and husband, Darrick of Eunice, Mandy Zaunbrecher and husband, Shane of Elton; thirty one grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a sister, Deanna Bischoff of Eunice; as well as large extended family and friends.

Dr. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Eva Miller, siblings, Dr. Jack Miller, Jim Miller, Betty Elfert, and Beneva Langlois, and grandson, Joel.

Ben served active duty in the Korean War from February 1953 until January 1955 accumulating several medals and honors.  He graduated from Texas A&M in 1964 as a DVM.

In addition to his veterinary medicine practice, Ben was a lifelong active member of the Eunice community serving as President of the Eunice Rotary Club, President of the St Ed’s Booster Club, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Parish Council Member and Trustee and a member of the Jaycees.

Ben lived out his Catholic faith daily through his actions.   He was awarded the Bishop’s Medal.  He treated everyone with an equal degree of respect and dignity regardless of who they were or from where they came.

In lieu of flowers, Dr. Ben requested memorial donations be made to St Edmund Catholic School specifically for refurbishment of the old gym.
