Helena Young

BASILE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Helena Young announces her passing on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 84.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Keenan Brown, Celebrant.

Helena was employed for  Dr. Bobby Deshotel for thirty-six years.  In 1987 her and Nobert went on a Pilgrimage to Guadalupe . She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and drank coffee daily with her coffee buddies. She enjoyed Sundays because every Sunday she cooked for her family and this was a great deal of joy for her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her four children, Brently Young of Eunice, Selena Young, Brennan “Preacher” Young and wife, Angie and Douglas Young all of Basile; her six grandchildren, Jace Young, Brittany Comeaux, Kyra Fontenot, Ashley Hebert, Benjamin Young and Brooke Young; twelve great grandchildren, Landrie and Eisley Young, Pierson, Kingston and Kreed Comeaux, Ellie and Ridge Hebert, Sawyer, Sutton and Sloane Fontenot and John-Bradley and Alivia Young;  her life-long friends, Haidie James and John Austin Young, Sr.; as well as extended family and countless friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Norbert Young, her mother, Mary D. Ardoin; sister, Fennetta Ortego and daughter-in-law, Beth Young.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Monday, February 22nd from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Tuesday, February 23rd from 7:00 am until time of services. The Rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters at 6:00 pm on Monday.
