Larry "Red" Leckelt

IOTA~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Larry “Red” Leckelt announces his passing on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Ochsner Acadia General Hospital in Crowley at the age of 75. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery with Father Jude Thierry, Celebrant.

Larry, known as “Red” by all, enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was a hardworking man that strived hard for those he loved. Red was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed by all, including his wife of forty-eight years, Cynthia I. Leckelt of Iota; son, Dwayne Leckelt and wife, Katie of Rayne; daughters, Mary Delcambre and husband, Ryan of Erath and Amanda Noel and husband, Matt of Church Point; brothers, Richard Leckelt and wife, Susan of Iota and Charles Leckelt and wife, Janet of Eunice; sister, Patricia Richard and husband, Edward of Richard; eight grandchildren, Gannon Quibodeaux and Aidan Leckelt, Ross, Lane, and Baylor Delcambre, Eli, Reese, and Kate Noel; his canine furbaby, Thunder the Rat Terrier; and extended family and friends. “Your life was love and labor. Your love for your family true. You did the best for all of us.”

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elson and Louise Pousson Leckelt; and brothers, Elson “Bookie” Leckelt and infant brother, John  Leckelt.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Iota on Wednesday, June 9th from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, June 10th from 8am until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00pm on Wednesday.
