BASILE~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lenora F. Ortego announces her passing on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Eunice Manor Nursing Home with her loving husband and family by her side. She was 84. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 02, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Keenan Brown, Celebrant.

Lenora was born to the late Sanville and Nola Buller Fontenot on December 15, 1937 in Elton. She was a homemaker and was a devoted parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society, CCD teacher, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, RCIA teacher and a coordinator at the Adoration Chapel. Lenora was a seamstress and artist who loved flowers, baking and cooking especially Sunday dinners.  Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she loved making homemade gifts.  Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, she brightened the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves her memories to be cherished by her husband of sixty -five loving years, Chester Ortego of Basile; three children, Debbie Miller and husband, Gary, Eddie Ortego and wife, Lisa and Rachel Fontenot and husband, Damon all of Basile; four siblings, Sammy Fontenot and wife, Grace of Lafayette, Lucille LeDart and husband, Joe of Nesbitt, MS, Michael Fontenot of Jasper, TX and Pat Fontenot and wife, Mona of Jarreau. She was a loving Granny to twelve grandchildren, Jacques Miller, Jacob Miller, Kristy Miller,  Kylie Crador and husband, Matt,  Jesse Miller, Emily Lavergne and husband, Jeff, Tray Ortego and wife, Renee`, Erin Hicks and husband, Jordan, Elizabeth Ortego, Nick Fontenot and wife, Kyra, Gavin Fontenot and wife, Alyssa, Victoria Trosclair and husband, Trenon; nineteen great grandchildren, Zoe, Sophi, Lux, Duke, Dallas, Dutton, Lane, Asher, Everett, Tevin, Breck Jemma, Sawyer, Sutton, Sloane, Colton, Boston, Oaklee and Jules; as well as extended family and friends. She may no longer be in our lives, but she lives forever in our hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mercedese Manuel and J. L. Fontenot and a great grandson, Ryzer Ortego.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Tuesday, November 1st from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday, November 2nd from 8:00 am until time of services. Catholic Daughters will pray a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.
