Magdalen Babineaux

EUNICE ~The family and friends of Magdalen "Maggie" Babineaux are mourning the loss of their loved one who passed away on November 20, 2019 at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas at the age of 73. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 22, 2019 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Interment will follow in the St. Thomas More Catholic Cemetery with Father Sensat Celebrant.

Magdalen, or "Maggie" as she was affectionately called by family and friends was a 1964 graduate of St. Edmund Catholic School. She was the president of the Cajun French Music Association for several years and was active in the building of the Cajun French Music Museum as well as a member of the legal secretaries. In her younger days she loved to fish and hunt and in her later years she loved to watch the game show channel.  Bishop Jules Jeanmard made an everlasting impression in her life. Maggie was a happy person and was fun to be around. But most of all she was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend and she will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her son, Eric Blaine Babineaux and wife, Katherine of Broussard; her daughter, Erika Babineaux Oddo and husband, Michael of New Orleans. The joys of her life her two grandchildren, Bryce Arron Babineaux and wife, Chelse, Kain Michael Oddo and one great grandchild, Arabelle Babineaux. She will also be missed by her siblings,  Kay Lee Durham of Spring, TX, Logan Young of Eunice, Kirtley Young and wife, Maria of Eunice, Bernie Ralston of Kenner, Irving Young and wife, Claudia of Eunice and Faith Millington of Cypress, TX as well as beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mildred Richarme Young; brother, Russell Young and the father of their children, Jimmie Babineaux.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Thursday.
