EUNICE~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of Michael Ray Montelaro announces his passing on Monday, August 02, 2021, at Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point with loving family by his side. He was 68. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou with Father Bala, Celebrant.

Michael, a 1971 graduate of Eunice High School was an avid LSU fan. He enjoyed spending time  outdoors, hunting and fishing as well as  company and spending time with his family and friends.  But most of all he was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and love him.  Michael will be forever remembered by his three children,  Kirsten LeJeune Owen and husband, Jared of Basile; Brooks Higginbotham and wife, Amber of Eunice and Madison Rose Brockhurst and husband, Mark of Phoenix, AZ;  brother, Kirk Paul Montelaro and wife, Jahn of Mamou; sisters, Fannie Augustine of Broussard, Priscilla Jane Sherrick and husband, Gerald “Cowboy” of Lake Charles, Jackie Newcomer and husband, Charles Wilbur of Sulphur, Susan Fontenot of Eunice, Debbie Young and husband, James “Black” of Eunice and Sheila Jordan and husband, James of Zwolle. His three grandsons, Cohen Brown, Bryson and Mason Higginbotham; three step granddaughters, Stella, Aida and Maya Owen; as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Fannie Breaux Montelaro; brother, Van Montelaro; sister, Lana Cormier and an infant sister, Loretta Montelaro.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held from 9:00 am on Saturday, August 14th at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou until time of services. At 9:30 am a Rosary will be prayed.

The family request in lieu of flowers that Memorial Donations may be made to the family.
