EUNICE~It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Rickie Lee Ortego announces his passing in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side at the age of 66. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Friday, May 21, 2021 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with Father Sensat, Celebrant.
He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, gardening, cutting grass and all sports. Rickie loved spending time with his family, cooking delicious meals and cooking for his Monday and Thursday night suppers. His greatest joys in life came from his marriage and raising their four children. He is survived by his beautiful wife of forty six years, Rhonda Ortego of Eunice; his four children, Ceata Hackett and husband, Rhett of Lafayette, Jessica Venable and husband, Josh of Church Point, Alicia Clavelle and husband, Dustin and Woody Ortego and wife, Jesica all of Youngsville; his four brothers, Johnnie Ortego of Cutoff, Robert Ortego and wife, Kayren of Youngsville, Michael Ortego and Christopher Ortego and wife, Aimee all of Ville Platte; his grandchildren, Anaice, Luke, Matthew and Ramie Hackett, Dylan and Samuel Venable, Gavin Credeur , Ashton and Allison Ortego, Hudson and Colton Clavelle, Charlee and Addison Ortego; his aunt, Carol Seefelt of Milwaukee, WI; his life long friends, Robert and Jackie Bertrand; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Audrey Poths Ortego; grandson, Mason Ortego; in-laws, Houston Woodson, Jr and Virgie Mercedes Fontenot Miller; and his right -hand man, Lolly Huval.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, May 20th from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Friday, May 21st from 8:00am until time of service. Deacon Chuck Ortego will lead a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Robert Ortego, Christopher Ortego, Michael Ortego, Nicholas Bertrand, Robert Bertrand, Beau Leger and Jake Ortego.
