IOTA~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Austin Brown announces his passing at the age of 91 on June 29, 2020 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 02, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Mausoleum with Father Jude Thierry, Celebrant.

A proud veteran, Austin also known as “Tony” served in the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He loved fishing, cutting grass and enjoyed spending time with his morning coffee group. Above all he was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who loved spending time with his family.  Tony’s memory will live on in all who loved him, especially his beloved wife of sixty seven years, Ethel Pousson Brown of Iota; his four loving children, Barbara LeJeune and husband, Roger of Scott, James Bennett Brown and wife, Pamela of Iota, Cathy Guidry and husband, Dennis of Estherwood and Kelli LeBeouf and husband, Jeff of Crowley; his sister, Zula Darbonne of Mamou. He is also survived by eight loving grandchildren, Andrea Poff, Noelle Thomas, Erica Dupre, Dylan Brown, Kyle and Todd Guidry, Meagan LeBeouf and Morgan Henderson; eleven great grandchildren and one on the way; as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Edna Dupre Brown; sister, Rena Rougeau; brothers-in-law, Alvin Rougeau, Sr, L.C. Darbonne and Leven Pousson; sisters-in-law, Lily Pousson and Lorraine Pousson and a godchild, Steve Pousson.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Iota on Wednesday, July 1st from 12 noon until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, July 2nd from 8:00 am until time of services. On Wednesday, Divine Mercy Chaplet will be at 3:00 pm and Rosary at 6:30 pm.

Pallbearers will be  Kyle Guidry, Todd Guidry, Dylan Brown, Wendell Young, Al Rougeau, Jr and Noah Poff and honorary will be Raleigh Miller, Jimmy Reed, Warren Pousson, Carol Dupre, Joe Cart and Scott Pousson.

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to his wonderful caregivers, Aline Best, Kim Simon, Pat LeJeune, Danell Trumps, Lacey Touchet, Lindsey Olivier, Thelma Miller, and Lamm Hospice.
